Forbes resident Elaine Molloy, like many, thinks highly of Glenn McGrath, so highly in fact she turned out to Narromine’s Tom Petty Park recently to honour the cricketing legend and witness the unveiling of his commemorative statue.
Elaine, a breast cancer survivor, said she could not miss the opportunity to catch up Glenn to offer her support.
Despite 563 Test wickets and 124 Test matches in the baggy green cap, Glenn remains humble about his achievements.
Hundreds of people turned out to witness the unveiling of the statue last month which was designed by local artist Brett Garling.
McGrath was flattered to have his achievements recognised by his hometown and those beyond.
After the unveiling Glenn made himself available to fans signing cricketing merchandise and stopping for a chat with many who attended.
Glenn said he hoped the statue would inspire others in the district to play cricket and to follow their dreams.
