Great design, better behaviour

It seems design is not a problem for year nine student Milann Henderson, who took out top honours in designing a logo for Forbes High School Positive Behaviour Learning (PBL) program.

The logo, which features a four leaf clover adorned with one of the four PBL mottos on each leaf, was one of 10 entries received in the competition.

Voting was undertaken by all the students during the second last week of last term with Milann being announced as the winner at an assembly last week.

“It’s important to give it [PBL] an image,” Deputy Principal Rob Scotton said.

The logo will now serve as the face of PBL with Mr Scotton saying anything to do with PBL will now include the logo.

This is now the second year Forbes High School has implemented the PBL program which Mr Scotton says is a three to five year process.

“Staff are an important part of it,” Mr Scotton said.

“It’s a constant part of reminding and regenerating.”

New posters featuring the logo will be displayed around the school and will help serve as a reminder of the program to students.

An initial priority was to keep the playground tidy however Mr Scotton says they have also seen an improvement in playground behaviour.

“It is working,” Mr Scotton said, adding monitoring of the school’s discipline data has also shown a positive response.

Each of the students who participated in the competition received a $5 canteen voucher, while Milann received a CD voucher.
