Forming part of Educational Instruments Week, Carl was recently selected to attend three days of musical coaching and performing as part of the State Wind Band.

Consisting of wind instruments, the band performed at Sydney Opera house on Wednesday, June 24.

Including approximately 60 other students from across the state, Carl spoke highly of the opportunity.

“It was very educational and helpful with the performing and playing in front of a big audience and with other professionals,” Carl said.

However it wasn’t all hard work. While two days were spent preparing for the concert, on the third day Carl said they were able to sleep in and then visit music stores around the city before preparing for the evening concert.

Carl said the highlight of the trip was meeting other students, seeing their level and where they are up to.

Mid-June has also seen Carl travel around Western Region school’s with the Mitchell Conservatorium of Music’s Jazz Band. The trip included performances at Trundle, Peak Hill and Condobolin.
