Yesterday saw the ushering in of a new era in employment services with the advent of Job Services Australia.
Central West Community College has been contracted to provide services in the local region and the organisation says the new scheme assist both employers and job seekers.
The Federal Government is spending $4.9 billion over the next three years on Job Services Australia which will replace the existing Job Network system.
The Government says Job Services Australia will produce a simplified employment services system, providing more personalised support for job seekers and allowing increased access to training and work experience.
“The new Job Services Australia offers a simplified, more personalised service to meet the individual needs of the job seeker, which is more important than ever in these tough global conditions,” Senator Mark Arbib, Minister for Employment participation, said.
They say the job seekers will receive individual Employment Pathway Plans as part of this more personalised service.
“Employment pathway plans can include opportunities such as literacy and numeracy training, work experience, and equipment and training for trades, giving job seekers the help they need to be job-ready.”
The Government says Job Services Australia will also benefit employers through providing a system better tailored to meeting their needs.
In April the Government announced Central West Community College had received the tender to supply services in the local region.
Dianne Moisis is the Central West Community College’s Performance Manager for the Lachlan Employment Service Area which covers Forbes, Parkes, Condobolin and West Wyalong.
She said Central West Community College will attempt to provide employers with the right staff with the right skills.
“The key to the whole thing will be working with employers to identify where skill shortages are or where they’re projected to be so that we can meet that gap once the employment situation picks up.”
Ms Moisis said local job seekers will receive more tailored assistance in increasing their skills and finding a job.
The new system came into force yesterday and more than 250,000 people nationally are expected to change their employment agency.
