It has been a long time coming, but a block of units owned by Forbes Shire Council will soon be occupied by tenants.
Council has recently received approval from the site auditor to allow occupation of the units which had been built on a site previously used as a gasworks.
Work to refurbish eight two-bedroom brick units in Union Street is nearing completion and local property agent, Michael Robinson and Co, is now taking expressions of interest from prospective tenants.
Forbes Shire Council’s Director of Environmental Services, Paul Bennett, said once council received approval to reoccupy the site there has been a hive of activity by local tradesmen to upgrade the units in preparation for rental.
While the units are more than 20 years old, they have been refurbished to near-new condition, including repainting, new flooring and carpet, new bathroom vanities and furnishings and Colorbond fencing.
