The organisers of this month’s Sportsperson of the Year Awards (SOYA) have asked last year’s winners to return any perpetual trophies as soon as possible.
The 2009 SOYA presentation is planned for Saturday, February 27, at Forbes Sport and Recreation Club, with awards to be presented to the best sportsmen and women, coaches, trainers, administrators and referees of the past 12 months.
SOYA secretary Anita Morrison has asked the recipients of major trophies in the 2008 awards to return their trophies to allow the new winners’ names to be engraved.
The organising committee has assembled a panel of six independent judges to consider nominations at an undisclosed meeting next week.
Nominations are still being taken but will need to be received before the end of this week. Nominations can be given to committee members Ian Hodges, Anita Morrison, Maree Hodges, Kerry Dunstan, Andrew Norton-Knight, Maureen Howe, John Schrader, Sue Uphill, Lyn Ford, Michael Bushell or Blake Nicholson.
Perpetual trophies can be delivered to the Forbes Advocate office.
Tickets to the dinner will be available soon.
