Few of us have friends quite like the Friends of Forbes Hospital, who have donated nearly $10,000 to the health service in the last 12 months.

The local hospital auxiliary recently held its annual general meeting, where the treasurer documented donations of $9778.70 for the 2012/13 financial year.
Forbes Hospital has used the funds to purchase a urine analyser (worth more than $6800), two new TVs for the dialysis unit ($950) and to contribute $2000 to the purchase of a new L-dex machine, which detects Lymph oedema.
The committee accepted a number of donations from hospital benefactors, but also conduct their own regular fundraising activities, like the upcoming Elvis Tribute concert, to be held at Forbes Services Club.
Elvis tribute artist Steve Kelleher will perform at the Sunday, August 25 concert, to start at 1.30pm, with admission just $5.
As usual, all proceeds will go to Forbes Hospital.
The committee’s AGM was held last Friday, August 2, with 12 members present.
Ann Williams was elected president for the next 12 months, with Lee Reynolds and Barbara Hoswell sharing vice-presidential duties.
Gloria Haley will serve as secretary / treasurer, with Barbara Hoswell her assistant.
Wilma Hepburn has been elected publicity officer, to keep Advocate readers informed of committee activities.
“Friends of Forbes Hospital meet on the first Friday of each month – 2pm at the Forbes Services Club,” Mrs Hepburn said.
