Three of the four Forbes teams competing in this year’s Lachlan Amateur Soccer Association competition have made a strong start to the season.
Forbes RSL Gunns and RSL Redbacks both won their round one matches while the Forbes Inn All Stars drew with Lightning FC.
The only team to travel in round one, Forbes RSL Thunder, were beaten 5-1 by Condobolin.
RSL Gunns carried their 2011 form into the new season, defeating Parkes’ Railway Chooks 10-0 at Botanical Gardens.
RSL Redbacks defeated Jets 2-1 at Botanical Gardens and the Forbes Inn All Stars nearly completed a clean sweep at the Forbes grounds, drawing 3-3 with Lightning FC.
The home side stunned Lightning with two goals by Ethan Kosef in the first 10 minutes.
Lightning FC struck back with a goal following some sloppy defence and then scored the equaliser from about 30 metres out swinging in from the left hand side of the Forbes team’s goal. At the 25 minute mark, Kosef scored his hat trick to give the home side a 3-2 lead at half time.
