Ladder extension

Work has started on a project which will create almost 20 new places at Forbes childcare centre, Learning Ladder.

Work started last month on an extension to the Farnell Street centre, which will create a new classroom, extra amenities, plus a new kitchen and staff room.

The extension will allow Learning Ladder to have dedicated rooms for 0-1 and 1-2 year old children and increase the centre’s capacity from 71 to 90 daily places.

The extension will house a new preschool classroom, taking the number of rooms at the centre to five, and creating new jobs in the process.

Learning Ladder director Raewyn Molloy said it is hoped the extension will be complete by mid July.

The main contractors are O’Brien Constructions from Blayney, but Mrs Molloy said Learning Ladder had also employed local sub-contractors for concreting, plumbing and other tasks.

Work began on April 18 and should be complete by July 11, weather and other circumstances permitting.
