The brothers bucked up a storm at three rodeos after Christmas including Jindabyne, Moruya and Picton.
Former national champion Shaun Read was prevented from riding at Jindabyne due to a hip injury but managed to bring home a home an equal first with 74 points from Moruya and a second place from Picton with 76 points.
Troy also went to the pay window, gaining a fourth place in Moruya on 69 points and his first ever open win at Picton rodeo in the saddle bronc event with 80 points on Ride Tuff Burra Road.
Despite riding together in the rodeo circuits since the late 90s, Troy said there was more camaraderie than rivalry between the brothers.
“Shaun reckons he was more happy for me than worried about himself,” he said.
“He was over the moon when I won and the first bloke to congratulate me.”
Both Shaun and Troy will compete in the newly reintroduced Forbes Rodeo which they themselves have organised.
Troy said so far, the event is running smoothly and will still kick off on time.
“It’s going great guns,” he said.
“We are still on schedule to start at 1pm on Saturday, March 1 and we will have a float in the Australia Day Parade and some calf dummy roping to start to get people excited about it.”
The last complete rodeo Forbes held was in 1998.
