About $5,000 was raised on the day for Can Assist, which organisers were thrilled with.
“We were really happy,” co-organiser Cathie Schatz said.
“We originally had 23 teams before it was postponed, but we had 14 or 16 this time, so to still raise this money is great.
“It was a really good day and the weather was kind to us.”
Donny Schatz’s son Ryan was part of the winning team on the day, along with friends Holly Smart and Grant Roberts.
“We were so stoked that Ryan won the trophy,” Cathie said.
The Binaal Billa team received the Don Bradman award for the lowest score on the day.
“They had never played before, so it was good they came down and had a go,” Cathie said.
There was an auction on the day, with most items donated from various businesses, including the greens fee which the Forbes Sport and Recreation Club donated back.
“People spent up big at the auction, which was really good,” Cathie said.
Cathie said Can Assist is a great charity and they are more than happy to support it.
“It’s so important what they do…in February alone they donated $7,000 to the community,” she said.
“Everybody would know of somebody that has or is suffering from cancer, so it’s very important that we support it.”
This is the second bowls day the family have held, having previously organised a charity golf day.
