Competing with a team of young does, the Illoura Park stud not only dominated the AngloNubian section, but also received highly valued accolades overall.
Officiating International Judge, Herman Hoekstra (Netherlands) commented he was most impressed with the overall quality of the exhibits to come before him, and particularly remarked on the AngloNubians as to their “dairy-ness” and strength of type.
In the lead up to the championship awards, Illoura Park featured in older goatling class (18 and under 24 months) with Karisma, Kalista and Kalanee being placed first, second and third in the final line-up.
Karisma was then awarded Champion Junior AngloNubian doe, with Kalista sashed as Reserve Champion AN.
In the kid classes, Illoura Park was again to the fore, with Laura and Lauren awarded first and second in the line-up for AN kid under six months of age, followed by Loretta, Louella and Larissa sashed first, second and third from the line-up of older kids, six months and under 12 months.
IP Loretta was then named Champion AN Kid with Louella sashed for Reserve Champion.
20-month-old Karisma then raised the Illoura Park banner higher, being awarded Reserve Grand Champion Doe of the Show All Breeds.
A very proud moment for Jennifer at this time, being told the two does standing for Grand Champion and Reserve G CH Jnr All Breeds – Osory Delude (Saanan) and IP Karisma (AngloNubian) were “the two best dairy goats on the showground” – high praise indeed.
As a final accolade, Karisma was awarded the most prestigious Supreme Exhibit AngloNubian – an exhilarating moment for a young doe to be awarded over a milker and a great reward for a stud breeder.
In the group classes, the Illoura Park stud was placed second with group of three does, and third in Sire’s Progeny with two young kids by home-bred sire IP Isayah.
Altogether a most successful and satisfying result from many months of hard work and dedication to the breed.
Now home, Jennifer has already started with planning to have a competitive team for Sydney in 2015.
