The match was played on Thursday night in Condobolin, with the Platypi accounting for the Rams 34-0.
Forbes Platypi coach Phil Prior said it came down to preparation.
“Condo haven’t played a game together, so I think we were just better prepared,” he said.
“It was a really great night though. There was a good crowd, good spirit and it was another successful shield.”
Ridley was one of three members of the Forbes Platypi - the others being Paul Cronin and Greg Sanderson - who were killed in the Bali bombings.
Prior is hoping the Ridley Shield win will set the squad up for this weekend’s Blowes Clothing Cup game against the hard-hitting Orange City Lions.
the two-times defending premiers tasted defeat a fortnight ago when they were beaten by Dubbo Kangraoos at Pride Park.
The absence of their winning streak has Prior sniffing an positive result.
“They’re coming off a loss … so we are quietly confident that we can upset them,” he said.
This weekend the rugby club’s home games will kick off with the Colts at 1.45pm.
The reserves will play at 2pm with the first grade set to go into battle at 3.15pm.
