Hosted by Football NSW Western, the Grassroots Coaching Course will run between 8.30am and 10.30am this Saturday (July 26) at Botanical Gardens.
The course will be delivered by Football NSW Western coach and development manager, Andrew Fearnley.
Football NSW Western coach Doug McKenzie said the course has a practical emphasis and encourages the coach to develop practices that are based on fun.
“The emphasis is on natural development, that is, learning by playing football,” he said.
“No coaching, but organising fun football exercises is the key to helping players build a love for the game. Another highlight of the course is that the coaches are exposed to basic rules of the game as well as tips and hints on building a football culture in a completely practical setting,” McKenzie said.
Doug McKenzie said the coaching course was an extension of Football NSW Western’s successful development program for 7-12 year olds, delivered weekly since May, and the school holiday clinics which are now held every school break. “These opportunities were never available previously,” he said.
“The success of these programs has now been extended to Grenfell and Young Junior Soccer clubs and steps are been taken to plan the 2015 program.”
