Around 20 people across the industry, retail, agriculture, accounting, real estate and insurance sectors attended the meeting.
In the executive committee, vice president Bree Roylance stood down with Chris Roylance stepping into this position.
Other core positions in the executive committee remained with Stuart Thomas serving a second term as president, Gabe Miller holding the position of secretary and Peter Johnson as treasurer.
In the working committee, Warwick Rolfe and Barb McKinnon resigned with Kimberly Chudleigh of McCarron Cullinane Chudleigh and Kim Sly of Cint joining existing members Marg Duggan of Undercover Sleepwear and Steve Walker of Walkers AgnVet.
The chamber’s marketing and events coordinator Sarah Davies also stood down from her position but will continue her role over the next six weeks to recruit and train a new coordinator.
President Stuart Thomas said the new members represented a wide variety of business sectors.
“We are thrilled to welcome a mix of new and returning members to the committee, and once again are pleased that a number of different sectors are represented by each,” he said.
“I would like to thank outgoing committee members Bree Roylance, Warwick Rolfe and Barb McKinnon for their efforts in the last 12 months as well as Sarah Davies who has been involved in the committee for a few years now and has brought tremendous drive to get things done.”
“Welcome to the new members who I have no doubt will contribute greatly in the coming year.”
The meeting was held in the Forbes Sport and Recreation Club and as well as appointing a new committee, gave a report on the previous year’s success.
Named as one of the highlights throughout the year was the Why Leave Town? gift card promotion which saw $30,000 loaded onto the cards and $24,000 of this spent locally.
Other successful business chamber initiatives were the Destination Forbes program which attracted close to 200 people from all over the central west and the Renew Forbes concept which has “breathed life” into empty shopfronts in the CBD.
The BOSCAR awards night was hailed a success with over 180 attendees as well as the quarter-yearly Biz Viz visits and the Christmas promotion which reportedly injected $1m into local stores over the promotion period.
Mr Thomas said the committee was looking forward to more success for Forbes’ business sector in the coming financial year.
“The continuing committee is looking forward to another wonderful year assisting local businesses and has a number of excellent ideas to help the chamber prosper,” he said. “We welcome any new ideas for members and also encourage you to become involved in the organisation by joining the committee.”
