Despite cold wet weather, over 800 people attended the first farmers markets last month and market organiser Rachel Lilley thinks this number can only grow.
“With good weather forecast and after the success of the last markets, the word is definitely getting out there so we are expecting a good number,” Ms Lilley said.
Almost 15 stalls are confirmed for the weekend including new additions to the circuit Joshie’s Mini Pancake Van, Spicer’s Creek Tomatoes selling a range of tomato based products, Deerfield produce, and Tumbling Downs’ olive oil range.
Ms Lilley said that to date, all stallholders have followed the Australian Farmers’ Markets Association’s charter which ensures that produce must be grown, or value added, and sold by the producer themselves.
“We are pleased that everyone has been sticking to the charter and either producing the raw products themselves or sourcing the products locally.”
The markets will be held in the Ben Hall Shears Pavilion from 8am-12pm. For anyone interested in hosting a stall this weekend or for the August markets, contact Rachel Lilley or Penelope McGufficke on 0475 077 822.
