Now the Forbes Rodeo committee are sharing this success with the community, giving back $8000 to the people that helped make the day a hit.
At a committee meeting on Thursday, the money was donated to Forbes CanAssist, the Forbes and District Lions Club, Church in the Schoolyard, the Forbes PA and H Association, Forbes North Public School, St Laurence’s Primary School and Forbes Public School.
As well as local charities, some donations also went to two injured cowboys from Coonamble and Sydney.
The meeting was the second the rodeo committee have held and already a date has been secured for next year’s event, to be held on March 21.
President of the Forbes Rodeo committee Shaun Read said the committee are planning to make the arena longer next year to accommodate larger crowds.
“We will be hoping to make the arena longer and give the crowd more room,” Mr Read said.
“This was a bit of a teething problem because we didn’t know it [the rodeo] would be as massive as it was, it was overwhelming.”
Mr Read said that he expects it will be much smoother planning the event second time around.
“Last year we started with nothing, we had to work with what we had,” Mr Read said.
“This year we’ve got a little bit there to make it better and we can work towards that goal of having our own place [arena] in the future.”
