Five boys signed up to the five week workshops which began on Monday, August 4.
Local skateboarding enthusiast Jesse Robertson is running the workshops for 10 to 15-year-olds at the Forbes Skate Park.
The course is aimed at beginners and a different skill is learnt each week.
Week one focussed on ollies balance and board information, week two was about stalls and drop ins, in week three they will learn flips and bowl work, week four will concentrate on grinds and transfers and the final week will cover airs and ledges.
Forbes Shire Council’s youth liaison officer Natalie Walker said the participants are enjoying the workshops which are all about developing skills, healthy interactions, healthy lifestyles and more of a positive image for the skate park.
“They’re getting a bit out of it, which is great,” she said.
“It helps them build confidence, learn some new skills and meet new people.
“There are kids signed up from three different schools which is good.”
There are three weeks left of the course, however it may become a more regular thing.
