The 589 square metre block in Forbes’ central business district, on the corner of Lachlan and Court streets, is being put under the hammer by the owner.
The former ambulance station was seriously damaged by fire in two arson attacks in late October and early November 2001.
It needs, as described in advertising, “some TLC” from the buyer.
There is a development application to put a new roof on the building approved and current.
From there, agent Lee Marsh says the site is virtually a blank canvas for the potential buyer.
“There are loads of options,” Ms Marsh said.
A plaque on the side of the building, placed there as part of the Heritage Trail project in 2001, recognises that it was known as Armstrong’s Corner in the 1800s.
Jack Armstrong, a Scottish chemist as well as alderman and mayor on Forbes’ inaugural municipal council, set up his Apothecary Hall on the site.
The auction is set for 10am September 20, with viewing by appointment through Ray White Forbes.
