The exhibition of about 200 photos opened on Friday night to a good crowd who turned up to see some of the talent on offer.
Forbes Mayor Ron Penny officially opened the exhibition.
“We thought it was great,” Forbes Art Society’s Klara Ward said.
“It was very successful and everyone thought the standard was good.
“The photos were all varied – they were terrific.
“They looked great all uniform with the black frames and the same size – bigger photos always look better.”
Rebecca Bennett from Cupcakes Photography won the overall best photo for her picture ‘Gigi 2’ of local girl Georgina Stitt.
Jessea-lea Byrnes was very successful in the competition, winning a number of the categories in the under 18’s section.
A number of people have already been to check out the exhibition at Town Hall, which will run until Sunday, August 24.
Ms Ward would like to thank all the helpers who made the exhibition possible, as well as the people who will be sitting at the front door throughout the week.
The photography competition is a result of the Forbes Art Society Camera Club, which meets on the first Thursday of every month at the Northside Chapel on Johnson Street at 7pm.
“Forbes Camera Club has about 12 very enthusiastic members but we would like more,” Ms Ward said.
“A lot of the winners and highly commended entries from the competition came out of the camera club.”
The camera club will be having a field trip to the Ben Hall Caves this Saturday, August 23. Members are asked to meet at the BBQ area at 12pm.
