With just one round of matches remaining prior to the semi-finals the competition ladders in each of the three grades are starting to take shape however there are still some teams fighting for spots.
All three minor premierships have been sewn up, with Dubbo CYMS first grade and reserve grade sides earning the first week of the finals off, while Forbes Magpies’ win over the Fishies in the under-18s on Sunday handed them the minor premiership in that grade.
Week one of the first grade finals has also been determined, with Wellington to face Dubbo Macquarie, and Parkes to do battle with Nyngan.
Sunday’s meeting will determine the host venues for those fixtures, with lower grade scheduling to also be considered before any decision is made.
Dubbo CYMS will host the major semi-finals at Apex Oval on September 7, with that ground also the venue for the September 21 grand finals.
Meanwhile, no official complaint has been put forward but Narromine fans are feeling somewhat upset this week after their under-18s side was denied a match-winning try in the dying stages of their 26-all draw with Parkes on Sunday.
With the match in the balance the Jets crossed the line, and the referee was all set to blow a try before one of the touch judges, appointed by Parkes due to a lack of numbers, called play back for a double movement.
The draw kept Parkes in fifth spot on the under 18s ladder, ahead of Narromine on percentage, going in to the final round of the competition.
