Forbes residents Jim and Cheryl Walklate were proud grandparents last week when Jessie-Rose Walklate returned from the world field archery championships with a medal to her name.

As the Advocate reported recently, the 15-year-old Springwood archer was part of Australia’s team at the World Field Archery Championships in South Dakota, USA, from August 4-8.
Competing in the junior girls division Jessie-Rose was named B-grade champion at the presentations on the final day of the event.
Announcing the news on social media to family and friends back home, Jessie-Rose thanked everyone involved in helping her fund the trip to Yankton, South Dakota, including many Forbes people who purchased a ticket in a recent raffle.
“Thanks to everyone who helped get me here and a huge thanks to my amazing family,” she said.
“It has been an unforgettable honour to represent Australia in my chosen sport.”
Prior to her trip Jessie-Rose competed at the Lachlan River Archers 3D branch titles, along with fellow traveller Peter Hearne from the Eurobodalla club.
Peter had the distinction of shooting a perfect score in one round at the IFAA (International Field Archery Association) championships.
