Legacy Badge Day is the major annual fundraiser for Legacy, a uniquely Australian organisation which was born in trenches of World War 1.

Diggers vowed to their mates that they would support the families of their fallen comrades.

There are 49 Legacy Clubs in Australia today staffed mainly by volunteers who, since 1923 have cared for widows and children of ex-service personnel who died in wars or conflicts, or who died afterwards from injuries.

The 12 Forbes Legatees and two from Eugowra care for 65 war widows who live in our shire.

The local hotels and clubs support Legacy by allowing Legatees to sell to their patrons.

Badges will be on sale in front of News On Rankin during the first week of September on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

They will also be sold at Bunnings on Saturday, September 6.
