A large crowd attended and all were willing to spend some money for a great cause, with the bidding very heated for many artworks.
The event was an outstanding success with more than $5000 raised on the night.
Co-coordinator of the event Nikki Patten said the P and F Association will donate some of that money back to the school for their art budget, so all up they will have made $4000 to go towards updating the play equipment for the infants and primary playgrounds.
“For a first time effort we were very excited that we made that amount of money,” Ms Patten said.
“We were overwhelmed with the response of the artists and so excited that we got great feedback from the parents, students and local artists.
“We want to thank all the local personalities that did get involved by donating artwork.”
So far this year St Laurence’s P and F Association have already raised $21,000.
“This money is on top of that so we could get a few pieces of equipment into the infants’ playground and one or two things in the primary set and we can then use the art show to keep doing that,” Ms Patten said.
“Updating the play equipment has been long overdue.”
Ms Patten said they look forward to doing it again next year, which they expect to be even bigger with more artists and community members getting on board.
