As part of the 2014 Wirrinya Picnic Day, to be held on Sunday, September 21, tickets are still being sold for the 50/50 Draw.
Well over $1000 worth of tickets have been distributed throughout the community to be sold.
A winner will be drawn on the picnic day and they can walk away with half the cash from the tickets sold.
There are also some amazing prizes for the children’s raffle, a lolly guess and 100 club.
A perfect fun filled family day, the event again this year boasts a full range of family fun, free activities and festivities.
Wirrinya Progress Association President Trevor Toole said the community has again rallied to organise a day which is fun for all ages and stages.
“Running races are held for all ages with every child who competes guaranteed a ribbon or prize commencing with the youngest age group races at 10.30am,” he said.
“There are also a few specialist races and novelty races such as egg and spoon, a gumboot relay and more.
“Everyone likes to have a go, with our more senior runners gaining several metres advantage at the start for their ‘life experience’.”
Ever popular events such as the tug of war are also still on the list of events as well as the novelty events and competitions such as toss the footy, coin toss, ten pin bowling and other old time fair game activities.
Many contestants are again set to compete in the billy boil, a spectacle and test of bushcraft skills.
“We love welcoming back so many families from Forbes and its surrounds who love to take part in the day,” Mr Toole said.
“If you have not ever been, this is absolutely the year to come out.
“Once you have been to the family fun day it is hard not to want to come back and enjoy an excellent day of family fun, which will not break the bank.”
Held at the Wirrinya Shed, you can get there from Forbes by heading out the West Wyalong Road, turning left onto the Wirrinya Road after the service station (on your right).
Go over the railway line at Garema and turn right.
Follow the road and signs to Wirrinya.
At Wirrinya turn right before the old school (on right) opposite the white church.
