The Magpies had been the strongest side all season, and showed true grit, finishing as the premier team in the junior competition.
At Caltex Oval, Forbes scored first with hooker Hayden Bolam getting across the line in the 18th minute.
Just five minutes later, Matthew Woolnough scored and with two successful conversions, Forbes led 12-0.
CYMS did not let the Magpies fly away completely however, getting on the board just three minutes before half-time.
Forbes was again the first to touch down in the second half when winger Jarrod Andrews scored late in the match bringing the score to 16-4.
Yet just as many declared the match over, CYMS took possession from a kick-off and scored a converted try just two minutes before full-time.
Forbes Magpies coach Cameron Greenhalgh said the team were ecstatic.
“It’s been a nervous few weeks for us to be honest but it’s a relief that it’s all over now,” coach Cameron Greenhalgh said.
“We only had the one team in [the final] today so there was a bit of pressure on us but the boys did the job. Because CYMS are a big team we had a plan to try and keep the ball in our hands and really make them work hard in defence. We were able to do that and we got the results.”
If the team thought the day couldn’t get any better, Forbes halfback Nick Greenhalgh, was also awarded the player of the match award.
President of the Forbes Magpies Rugby League Club Greg Grogan said it was a great day for Forbes.
“It’s fantastic for the club,” he said.
“They’re a fantastic bunch of kids and a credit to their parents.”
The last time the under 18s won a premiership was in 2007.
FORBES MAGPIES 16 (Hayden Bolam, Matt Woolnough, Jarrod Andrews tries; Nick Greenhalgh 2 goals) defeated DUBBO CYMS 10 (Mitch Dunlop, Joe Stagemen tries; Hewett Haycock goal)
