Shortly after guiding his side to a grand final win over CYMS, Greenhalgh capped the two main individual awards on offer in the junior grade when he was announced as man of the match in the grand final as well as the Group 11 player of the year.

With his proud father and coach Cameron Greenhalgh watching on, the youngster showed the class on and off the field that attracted the attention of the Penrith Panthers.

The youngster will head to the foot of the mountains next season to link with the club’s Holden Cup squad, and while he was delighted with the individual honours that came his way on Sunday he admitted the premiership win was more rewarding.

“You don’t really play footy to win these awards but I’m still pretty proud the people voted for me,” Greenhalgh said.

“We’re only a small club and for us to win a grand final is big for everyone that puts in hours of work to make it run properly.

“We’ve had a really good team in the under-18s for a couple of years now so for us to be here today, and to win a premiership for Forbes is pretty exciting.

“Obviously there’s a few of us moving away next year, but a lot of the boys are younger and will be back playing for Forbes next year so hopefully they can build on what we’ve done today and come back and win it again next year.”
