Students ranging from nine to 16-years-old participated in the golf camp, with 26 kids coming to Forbes from the western area including Bourke, Trangie, Mudgee, Gulgong, Dunedoo, Kandos and Blayney.
The kids came on buses from Dubbo and Dunedoo for the course and stayed in Forbes for the duration of it.
Organising coach Sharon Nott from Dunedoo and formally of the Jack Newton Junior Golf Association said the camp ran from 9.30am to 4pm each day and in the afternoons the students participated in organised activities including visits to Apex Park and McFeeters Motor Museum.
Five coaches ran the camp including Ms Nott, Todd Iffland and Todd Brakenridge from Forbes, head coach for the Western Region Academy of Sport Bruce McLean and Mike Jones from Sydney.
Ms Nott said participants range in skill level, with some golfers handicapped and others not handicapped.
During the first two days, junior golfers learn and work on a range of golfing skills including chipping, full swing and putting, to suit their individual standards.
On Wednesday, they participated in a nine hole, two person Ambrose event to finish the camp.
The camp is run by the Forbes Golf Association and the Western Districts Golf Association, with the support of Jack Newton Junior Golf and Country Junior Golf.
All participants thoroughly enjoyed the camp and got a lot out of it.
“It’s awesome,” nine-year-old Marley O’Shannessy said.
“The coaches are nice and I’ve gotten better at driving.”
