The Forbes Jockey Club’s second meeting of the year on Saturday, October 11, should be marked down on your social calendar with something on offer for punters, socialites and families alike.
“We have live entertainment, a free jumping castle for the kids and of course strong racing fields for those who fancy a flutter,” says Forbes Jockey Club committee member, Carmen Duffy.
“The Forbes Jockey Club is lucky enough to be allocated one of the best race dates in the central west and we encourage everyone to take advantage of this and get trackside to enjoy the fabulous spring weather with fine local racing.”
Marquee sites are still available but those interested are advised to book in advance to capitalise on uninterrupted views of the track and the convenience of the trackside bar.
“We have had a great response so far with lots of groups staking their claim along ‘marquee lane’, all is set for a very festive atmosphere”.
Another definite drawcard for the Spring Races is the fashions on the field.
Ms Duffy says the fashions event has been given an overhaul and is going to be a premier feature of the day.
She credits the high participation rates in last year’s event and generous support of local businesses as the catalyst for the event’s makeover.
“There has never been a better time to get involved, we are proud to be offering our largest prize pool yet with over $2500 in cash and prizes up for grabs across the categories,” Ms Duffy said.
“This year the categories have been redefined and judging criteria put in place for each.
“Our specialist judging panel will hold preliminary judging with finals for each category taking place on the red carpet before the last race.
“It is really exciting to be taking fashions on the field to the next level.”
Categories include most elegant lady, cutting edge and best dressed gent along with junior (8-15) and tiny tot (3-7).
Participants are encouraged to pre-register in-store at Little Extras or Gunn’s Menswear or email forbesspringraces@gmail.com with the first round of judging to be held at 1.30pm.
