Forbes Olympic Pool is all set to open on schedule at 9am on Saturday, October 4.
Pool manager Maree Reiher will be on deck ready to welcome swimmers and with hot weather predicted on both Saturday and Sunday, it should be a busy opening weekend.
There are still some minor works remaining on the male amenities upgrade, so Forbes Shire Council has made temporary arrangements for the start of the season.
Until the upgrades are complete, portable toilets will be on site for the first few weeks.
Forbes mayor Ron Penny said council would prefer that the upgrades are done well and delayed a few weeks instead of rushing to get it done.
“We’d rather pay attention to detail than rush the job,” he said.
Cr Penny said there were a few setbacks to the work including wet weather in July and early September which pushed back the concreting and earthworks.
Also the ground water conditions weren't revealed originally, so workers had to deal with those as they got to it.
The new male amenities block will come complete with gas hot water, which swimmers will appreciate, particularly at the start and end of the season.
The female amenities have also been fitted with gas hot water, so all showers will now be hot.
While the male amenities block will be closed until it is finished, the rest of the pool will be fully operational.
Opening hours are 6am to 8am for lap swimming, and then from 10am to 7pm every day during October and March.
This will extend to 9am to 7.30pm every day from November to February, and will be open until 8pm on Fridays.
Pool entry is $3.70 for adults, $2 for guardians and concession card holders and $2.50 for children. Entry is free for children under five.
Full season tickets are $230 for families, $120 for adults and $70 for children and concessions.
A 10 pass fee is also available for $30 for a family, $20 for adults and $10 for children and concessions.
The Splash Park will also be officially open on Saturday, with it operating over the same period as the pool.
