VANFEST announced its star-studded line up less than two weeks ago, and already tickets are selling fast to people right across Australia.
The fledgling festival has had tickets purchased from Adelaide, Brisbane, from places as remote as Hamilton Island and as far as Finland.
VANFEST organiser Matt Clifton warned locals to “get in quick” as they will be vying for tickets against people who “do their homework” on the festival circuit.
“If you’re local, you want to get in soon as the first release tickets are about to run out,” he said.
“It’s the guys in the metro areas that have bought a lot of tickets.
“These people are prepared to go the distance for places like the Falls Festival and Byron Bay’s Bluesfest, and we’re no different.”
Already many local motels are showing no vacancy signs for that weekend and camping sites at the showgrounds as well as transport tickets are reportedly filling up too.
A large draw card has been nine-time ARIA nominee Chet Faker who announced that Forbes would be the only Australian show to come off his world tour.
The event will also be the last show of the year for Matt Corby and British India will come fresh from supporting the Rolling Stones.
Matt said the buzz over VANFEST has sky-rocketed, and its national appeal has been mostly thanks to social media.
“Ticket sales are going incredibly well,” he said.
“We went into this thinking it would create quite a bit of hype, and it’s certainly starting to make a big splash.
“Our site has had 90,000 clicks and there’s already been over 1000 shares on Facebook.”
The $80 first release ticket sale will end shortly for VANFEST, however festival goers will still be able to purchase second release tickets for $90.
While most of the major acts have been announced, organisers confirmed yesterday that one more “special guest” will join the stellar list shortly.
More to come.
