Kim and Wendy attended the NSW Excellence in Property Awards Ceremony on Thursday and were in shock when their retreat was announced as the winner of the environment award.
The judges of the award declared Girragirra to be a most unique entry and a truly environmentally friendly project.
“When we went through the submission with Rachel Lilley from Forbes Shire Council, we didn’t think we would have a chance to win a state award and we definitely wouldn’t have been able to do it without her help with the submission,” Wendy said.
“We are just blown away.
“It is really nice to have the recognition that the vision we have for Girragirra is something that is worthwhile and intrigued the judges.
“It is also lovely to be able to bring this award back to Forbes.
“There are a lot of exciting and innovative things happening in town and it’s great for others to be able to see what we’re doing out here.
“Forbes is becoming a place that offers quite a diverse experience to people as it is growing and developing in a lot of different directions and we hope we’ll be a part of that in a small way.
“This award is an achievement for our tradies as well as the build was not an easy one.”
Last night the Muffets hosted a party at Girragirra for the tradies who were involved in the build to thank them for a fabulous job as well as celebrating the award win.
