Hundreds of people turned up to watch on as teams battled it out for the title of 2014 National BBQ Champions.
“It was a sensational day,” Forbes BBQ Society president Chris Roylance said.
“The weather couldn’t have been better and the lake was a beautiful backdrop.”
A total of 18 teams competed in the championships in the four categories - chicken, beef, pork and lamb.
Team numbers were up on last year’s total of 15, however Mr Roylance said there would have been more if six of the teams didn’t pull out.
“Every year it has grown,” Mr Roylance said.
“There were mainly locals competing because a lot of the out-of-towners couldn’t make it.”
Mr Roylance said all competitors want to come back next year.
The overall winners of the competition were the Forbes Flatlands Hang Gliding team, consisting of Veronica Rebellato and Annie Tildsley, who came first in the inaugural competition in 2011.
As the 2014 National BBQ Champions, they took home $1500 in prize money.
Winners and placegetters from each meat category also received prize money.
Mr Roylance was impressed with the high standard of cooking from all teams.
“Everyone cooked to a very high quality, it was amazing,” Mr Roylance said.
