Despite rumours he had retired, Forbes tennis coach John Christopher continues to offer lessons at the courts, which have been partly demolished to make way for a new preschool.
However as John points out, two courts remain, and he is still able to use the facility, now under the care of Northside Chapel.
John is an accredited Tennis Australia coach and his use of the courts is covered by the association’s insurance policy.
The focus of lessons varies depending on the student’s ability.
“For the younger kids I teach them basic technique, the different grips and some footwork,” John said.
While the lights have not yet been switched over to a new circuit, John said the start of daylight saving gives him more time to offer lessons.
He currently has vacancies at 5.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and after 12.30pm on Saturday.
