Touted as the Forbes Rugby Union Club’s social event of the season, the President’s Lunch will be bigger and better than ever in 2015 with Peter FitzSimons lined up as the guest speaker, along with 10 ex-Wallabies.
The theme for the event is ‘Lunch with a Legend’.
One of the former Wallabies players already on board to come to Forbes is Greg Cornelsen, who played for Australia 25 times from 1974 to 1982.
One of Cornelsen’s career highlights was when he scored four tries in the third test against the All Blacks in 1978, seeing Australia through to a 30 to 16 victory, as well as ending a long drought of losses against the Kiwis.
He was also the first forward from any country to score four tries in a major test since 1881, and to this day remains the only Wallabies forward to achieve the feat.
Well-known and respected columnist, author and ex-Wallaby Peter FitzSimons will be the highlight of the day.
FitzSimons has a long list of credentials and achievements under his belt which is sure to appeal to everyone, making him a popular guest speaker.
He is a well-respected columnist for The Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald, speaks four languages, has played rugby for Australia, co-hosted radio shows with Mike Carlton and Doug Mulray, interviewed famous people around the globe from George Bush to Diego Maradona and written 25 best-selling books.
President’s Lunch committee members are currently busy planning for next year’s event, to be held on Saturday, March 21.
Invitations will soon be sent out and the committee are encouraging people to start getting their tables of 10 together.
Anyone wishing to be a table captain this year is asked to contact the committee by December 1, with a first in best dressed policy.
Each table captain is limited to a maximum of two tables.
Tickets are $120 per person, which include pre-lunch drinks followed by a formal sit-down lunch, as well as entertainment on the day.
