As the official charity of Forbes’ first music festival, Can Assist will receive a cash donation from a percentage of revenue raised.
The partnership will involve members of the Can Assist Forbes branch helping out with the setup and on the day of the event, in return they will receive a generous donation.
Festival co-director Matt Clifton said Can Assist was an easy choice.
“It’s a local crew that help people in the community and by donating to those guys we are donating to Forbes,” he said.
“We want to help the community directly and while it’s great to support bigger charities, if the money went to them it wouldn’t necessarily go back to the people of Forbes.”
Mr Clifton said the idea of VANFEST is to boost Forbes and supporting local charities is one way it can do this.
“The whole point of the festival is to benefit the town,” he said.
“The event is designed to promote and support Forbes and the whole community will benefit.
“I grew up in Forbes...it’s all about bringing something for your own community and if people can have fun at the same time, then all the better.”
VANFEST will be held at Forbes Showground on Saturday, December 6.
The stellar line-up includes Chet Faker, Matt Corby, Sneaky Sound System, Bag Raiders, Van She, British India, OXBLVD, All Day, and our very own Celia Pavey.
A special guest will be announced sometime next week.
Tickets are $80 for first release and VIP tickets are $165. Tickets are available at www.vanfest.com.au
