The commercial is the result of 18 months of market research by Forbes Shire Council and is an extension of the Forbes in the Heart of the Country agri-tourism campaign.
As part of the promotion of Forbes, council have also developed a brand new website and placed three advertising billboards near Tomingley, Peak Hill and Cudal.
The commercial, billboards and website aim to boost tourism in Forbes and attract nature-based tourists, a group that Destination NSW has identified as one of the fastest growing in the Australian tourism market.
When the television commercial is completed it is expected that it will be broadcast to regional area as well as Sydney and Canberra.
General manager Brian Steffen says the content and delivery mediums of the campaign were carefully considered, right down to each individual image.
“The campaign is not aimed at Forbes locals, they already know what beautiful assets we have,” he said.
“Rather, images used on our website and billboards are part of a series which includes various attractions and agricultural aspects of Forbes to create a holistic message.”
A critical element of the campaign was ensuring that the footage and photographs used highlighted a point of difference from other towns within the region.
“Our heritage buildings or our lovely parks are good examples,” Mr Steffen said.
“They are certainly beautiful however many towns also focus on these aspects, so we needed to identify a different reason for tourists to choose Forbes.”
Central NSW Tourism executive officer Lucy White congratulated council on the initiative after noticing some of the billboards during recent travels.
“It does what all good signage should do,” she said.
“It is positioned prominently, is clearly seen and best of all, it is memorable. It’s also great to see how strategic Forbes Council is being by using the refreshed brand and creative elements on the sign.
“A number of my regional colleagues have also commented positively on it, so congratulations.”
