People came early to beat the heat and Farmers’ Markets organiser Rachel Wythes said it was one of the most successful events yet.
“It was a good day despite the warm weather and we were impressed by the numbers,” Mrs Wythes said.
“A lot of people seemed excited to buy things to plant up.”
Two new marketeers set up shop including Have You Tried This? which sold fresh herbs and plants and Poppy’s Lemonade which kept the crowds hydrated.
The last market for the year will be on December 20 and will be Christmas themed.
Santa is rumoured to be making an appearance and there will be lots of unique products to help fill Christmas hampers.
The Forbes Farmers’ Markets have been operating for seven months now and Mrs Wythes said there are plans to next year have entertainment at each of the monthly events.
“We are hoping to have special guests as part of the education side of the markets,” she said.
“We hope to get guest chefs and producers to the markets so that people understand the production side of things and how important it is to eat fresh produce.”
