Next Saturday, over 4000 people from all corners of the country will make their way to Forbes for the festival, and with big numbers comes big work. 

The showground has already been watered and whipper snipped and early next week major construction on the grounds will commence. 

On Tuesday, the 2km long and 1.8m high boundary fence will start to be built, as well as Vancity’s campsites gridded and numbered in preparation for over 1200 campers. 

On Wednesday, there is expected to be around 70 people at the Forbes Showgrounds with sound engineers and lighting technicians arriving in town as well as builders to start work on the 18m main stage. 

Toilet facilities from Dubbo and all of the food vendors will roll in by Thursday and all the finishing touches will be made on Friday in time for the artists who are expected to fly into Parkes airport on Saturday. 

Yet the work doesn’t stop on the weekend, with around 70 community members and CanAssist volunteers set to be buzzing around the festival and for the mammoth cleanup on Sunday. 

Co-organiser of Vanfest Grant Clifton said with all the organisation, he doesn’t know what day of the week it is, but he’s revved up for next Saturday. 

“This coming week will be very very hectic,” Grant said. 

“But the organisation is going fantastically and I’m very excited ... it’s been coming for six months.”

Over 4000 tickets have been sold to Vanfest, including all of the VIP tickets and there are only 300 unpowered camping sites still available.

While tickets are available on the day, they can not be bought at the gate and must be purchased online. Second release tickets cost $90 and are available at www.vanfest.com.au
