After defeating VC Reid under lights the previous weekend, Masterstroke Painters passed Post Office Hotel’s first innings tally of 73 inside 13 overs.
After winning the toss and batting first at South Circle, Post Office Hotel managed 6/73 from their 20 overs, with Mat Teale (15) and Andy Hardy (14 not out) the top two contributors.
Tight bowling from all the Masterstroke Painters bowlers - Brad McDean (2/9 from four), Josh Vale (1/7 from three), Damian Kennedy (1/15 from four), Matt Skene (2/22 from four), Isaac Vale and Jarrod McDean - laid the platform for Chris McDean (27), Skene (24) and Scott Burton (26 not out) who scored the winning runs in Post Office Hotel’s 13th over.
Wes Greig (1/11 from three overs) and Mat Teale (1/32 from four) removed the opening pair but some big hitting from Burton ensured victory with seven overs to spare.
In last round’s other match, Forbes High School kept its winning run intact, defeating Golf and Sportsman’s Hotel under lights at Botanical Gardens.
A scorebook was not available at time of writing, but captain Mark Stirling top-scored, blasting about 90 runs in the twenty20 game.
