The movie, which is currently being screened at cinema venues around Australia, is a point-of-view film about the elusive Pilliga yowie and the myths and legends surrounding the Pilliga State Forest in the north of NSW.
With the high-set ceilings of the Town Hall and strong community support, writer, director and producer of the film Millerd said the night was a big success.
He said he hopes his film will encourage more movie screenings in Forbes.
“I was very pleased with the response to the film across the board,” he said
“Hopefully it’s a trigger for more movie nights in Forbes.”
The MA15+ film still has at least another 25 screenings across 16 venues Australia-wide, with the next showing this Friday at Coonabarabran.
The dvd of the film is set to come out on March 18, and is now able to be pre-ordered through JB Hi-Fi.
Millerd wished to thank everyone for their support.
“Thanks to everyone from Forbes for turning out for something different,” he said.
“Without them it wouldn’t have been a successful night.”
“Thanks to Forbes Shire Council and in particular Sarah White, Bill Holmes, Joel Williams, Kim Kirkman, Amy Bryant, 2LVR, Kevin Dwyer, Amy Graham, Trent Carroll, Naomi Wright and the Vandenberg Hotel.
“Sorry if I caused any sleepness nights.”
