Forbes and District Cricket president Andrew Glasson said the registrations - six teams in A-grade and 14 in B-grade - would ensure “generous” prizemoney for the division winners.
Each team will be guaranteed three games at Botanical Gardens today with the first round of matches to start at 9am.
With a warm, but not hot day expected, Glasson said all bodes well for a successful event.
“It looks to be one of our most successful ever,” he said yesterday.
“Local businesses like Bernardi’s have helped us out and Red Bend [Catholic] College have lent us some equipment, so with the support of everyone it looks like being a really good day.
“I’d expect 500 people to go through [Botanical Gardens] tomorrow, which is great,” he said.
The Super Eights rules are modified to encourage a fast-paced brand of cricket, with shortened boundaries, shorter run-ups and concessions for batsmen, including no first ball dismissals.
Glasson said reigning A-grade champions Walkers Weedmasters are not competing this year, meaning both divisions will be ‘wide open’.
“B-grade also has a raft of very classy players mixed in with social players, so it’s wide open too,” he said.
Spectators are welcome at the grounds, with a canteen operating throughout the day.
