The Magpies opened the 2015 knock-out with an impressive 16-12 defeat of Gundagai last Friday night but were beaten 4-0 by the carnival hosts on their return trip on Saturday afternoon.
Club president Greg Grogan was one of nearly 40 supporters who boarded a bus trip to West Wyalong on Friday night.
He said the Magpies were very impressive in their match against Gundagai, but couldn’t quite match the effort on the second day.
“They played really well on Friday, but not quite as good on Saturday.
“But there was a really big crowd of Forbes people there [at Ron Crowe Oval],” he said.
Goulburn Workers were the winners of the competition, defeating Junee in the grand final 12-6.
Meanwhile, the Magpies will launch their 2015 season this Friday, with all supporters invited to Forbes Sports and Recreation Club.
The launch gets underway at 7pm and will feature live music by Robbie Mortimer and the chance to meet with the club’s players and three senior grade coaches - Zac Merritt, Tas Spackman (reserves) and Peter Besgrove (under 18s).
