Forbes Inn sponsored teams High School and Masterstroke Painters will contest this afternoon’s A-grade grand final, to be played at South Circle, while Post Office Hotel and Golf and Sportsman’s Tigers will meet in the B-grade finale on Grinsted Oval.
High School batsman and co-captain Jason Hoswell said his team will be hoping to continue the form that saw them end the regular rounds with just one loss to their name.
“Just all-round cricket, and everyone working well as a team,” he said when quizzed on the successful formula.
“You are only as good as you are on the day. If everyone’s talking on the field and communicating when we’re batting and bowling we should go OK.”
High School’s only loss this summer was in a twenty20 match against Masterstroke Painters.
Painters quick Clint Hurford was not reading too much into that win, and said his team would have to be at their best to topple the reigning premiers.
“We’ll have to bowl good and bat good, and take our catches when we need to,” he said.
Rival captains in the B-grade decider, Jayme Sherritt (Golf and Sportsman’s Hotel Tigers) and Andrew Glasson (Post Office Hotel) said it should be a friendly encounter at Grinsted Oval.
Tigers will be missing Sam Williams and Tom Caldwell but Sherritt said his team had a few ‘secret weapons’ in Tim ‘Dodgy’ Lodge and Scott ‘Dotty’ Grogan.
“They’ll be our ones to watch,” he said.
Ross Williams will umpire the A-grade decider. Both games are due to start at 1pm.
