Youth Week 2015 is April 10 to 19 but the Forbes Youth Advisory Committee are stretching out the week for nearly a whole month of activities.
Four events are planned in Forbes beginning with the Forbes Youth Awards on Wednesday, April 1 at Forbes Town Hall.
The awards will go from 6pm to 8pm and aim to recognise the contributions that young people make in our community.
During the official Youth Week, there will be a Short Film Festival on Friday, April 17 at King George V Park.
Young people aged between 13 and 17 (juniors) and 18 and 24 (seniors) are encouraged to start getting creative and make a short film between three and five minutes long to enter into the festival, with $500 up for grabs for each section.
Another fun event will be the Skate Competition held at the skate park on Sunday, April 19 for all the keen skateboarders and finally, a Super Mega Fun Day will be held at Stephan Field on April 22.
The theme for Youth Week 2015 is ‘It begins with us’ and this will be incorporated into the Forbes events.
The Forbes Youth Advisory also has a few new members this year, which Forbes Shire Council’s youth liaison officer Natalie Walker said is fantastic.
“It’s great having some new members,” she said.
“There’s also a few other people I know who have shown an interest in joining.”
The new members are Ashley Cannon, Rebecca Roach and Sophie Harris.
