The Short Film Festival will be held on Friday, April 17 during Youth Week 2015 and is one of many fun activities the Forbes Youth Advisory have in store to celebrate young people.
There is $500 up for grabs for the winners of both sections of the film festival - junior (aged between 13 and 17) and senior (aged between 18 and 24).
The theme for Youth Week 2015 is ‘It starts with us’ and in fitting with that theme, all entries must have those words somewhere in the film, as well as include the compulsory item, an egg.
Films can be made individually or in teams of up to eight people and can be shot and edited with any device such as a mobile phone, laptop or camera.
Duration of the films must be between three to five minutes and animations or documentaries are acceptable.
Films must be submitted in DVD format, along with a 100 word synopsis and they have to be a PG rating, containing no swearing or sexual/violent imagery.
Forbes Shire Council’s youth liaison officer Natalie Walker said it’s a great chance for young people to show off their creativity.
“We’ll hopefully get a few entries,” she said.
There will be an independent judging panel, consisting of local filmmakers, to judge the winners.
For anyone interested in learning how to make a short film, Forbes Shire Council will be holding a filmmaking workshop as part of their school holiday activities program on Tuesday, April 7 for 13 to 17-year-olds starting at 11.30am.
Entries must be in by Friday, April 10 before they will be screened at King George V Park on Friday, April 17 during Youth Week.
All rules and requirements and registration forms are available online at www.forbes.nsw.gov.au and entries must be submitted to the Youth Liaison Officer, Forbes Shire Council, PO Box 333, Forbes NSW 2871.
