On at Grinsted Oval from 2pm to 5pm, the launch is intended to be a celebration of the start of the 2015 season, and an opportunity for registered players and new or prospective players to come along and have a fun afternoon of rugby activities.
There will be giveaways, prizes for activities, and lots of rugby drills, skills, as well as some Viva 7’s games for the older players.
There will be a barbeque and soft drinks available.
The event will also be a great opportunity for parents to meet the coaches, and other players’ parents.
Vice president of the Forbes Junior Rugby Club, Megan Rogers, said the launch will be a great way for all of the players to get to know each other.
“We are a small club and we are building a strong club culture, based on all that team sports such as rugby stands for - friendship, teamwork, respect, and fun,” she said.
“All of our registered players are excited about the 2015 season, and this weekend’s launch is a fantastic opportunity for the kids to gather in a social setting, and enjoy all that our club has to offer.”
For those who have not yet registered, there is an opportunity to come along and register on the day.
There are still some places available in teams, and registration costs $60 per player which includes a pair of socks and shorts.
Mrs Rogers said if you are unsure of the details of rugby union, the launch will be a good opportunity to speak to the coaches and committee.
NSW Rugby have thrown their support behind the launch, and there will be staff from NSW Rugby on hand to run some skill drills to help players refine their rugby skills.
“Having the support of NSW Rugby is fantastic, as the kids can benefit from the knowledge of the staff in a relaxed setting,” Mrs Rogers said.
A raffle will be drawn on the day, and first prize is two tickets to a NSW Waratahs home game of choice (not finals), donated by NSW Rugby, plus a night’s accommodation in Sydney, donated by Helloworld Forbes.
Second prize is a sports bag donated by Bown’s Sportspower.
Tickets will be available on Sunday, as well as Saturday outside Bernardi’s, from 9am to 1pm.
There will be club merchandise on sale, and available for order as well, including ties, caps, training gear (jerseys, shorts etc) and orders will be taken for 2015 club shirts, beanies and jackets.
Mrs Rogers said the club has received wonderful support from the local community.
“We really appreciate the support of all of our sponsors, who have sponsored teams, jerseys, events on the day such as giveaways,” she said.
“Without the generosity of our sponsors, our club would not be able to provide our kids with jerseys, equipment, and coaching opportunities.”
