Council yesterday confirmed four candidates - Grant Clifton, Jenny Webb, Robyn Miller and John Berger - had nominated for the May 9 election, which follows the untimely death of former mayor Ron Penny in February.
Nominations closed at 12pm yesterday and a ballot was conducted at 2pm. The candidates’ names will appear in the same order as above.
Mayor Phyllis Miller said it was pleasing to see a number of residents interested in representing their community.
“To be a councillor is an honour and provides the opportunity to fight for local issues and contribute to the future of your community. It is great to see a strong line-up of candidates,” Cr Miller said yesterday.
Both Robyn Miller and John Berger have previously held positions on council.
Forbes Shire Council recently decided to administer its own by-election and appointed Alan McCormack as returning officer.
Mr McCormack is now based at council full-time until the May 9 election and can be contacted on 6850-2300 or amccormack@forbes.nsw.gov.au for all election enquiries.
