Roadside drug testing is now available to the region’s police when conducting random breath testing.
If a roadside test gives a positive reading, further samples are taken and sent away for analysis, which will determine the further legal action.
A Forbes woman and a Parkes man were placed on a 24-hour driving ban after testing positive in Forbes on Tuesday.
BREAK-INS: A handbag was stolen from the sunroom of a home in Underwood Street between 5am and midday on Tuesday.
Police say it appears the offender has entered the unsecured room while the owner was at home in another part of the house.
On Monday night a home in Farrand Street was broken into and personal items stolen. Police say it appears the offender gained entry through a window.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the break-ins, or who saw anything suspicious in the area, to contact them on 6853 9999 or through Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
UNREGISTERED BIKES: Two 15-year-old boys will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act after being detected driving unregistered motorbikes.
Police spoke to the 15-year-olds in Edward Road on Tuesday afternoon.
They reminded members of the public that it is an offence to drive unregistered vehicles on public roads.
ARREST ON WARRANT: A Forbes man was arrested on an outstanding warrant relating to traffic matters and appeared before Forbes court on Tuesday. He was released on bail and will face Forbes court at a later date.
FOUND BIKES: Police are urging anyone who has a bike or mobile phone stolen to contact them to confirm it has not been handed in at Forbes Police Station.
In the past week two children’s pushbikes, one purple, one pink and white, have been handed to Forbes Police.
The owner can identify and claim them at the station.
