At Forbes Shire Council’s meeting on Thursday, councillors resolved to remove the facilities and the demolition will cost in the vicinity of $5000.
The toilet block has been locked for approximately 10 years and is currently in poor condition with vandals continuously breaking the doors to gain access to the facility.
The toilets, which are located by the rugby ovals on Camp Street,
were erected in the early 1980s at the height of the basketball competition in Forbes.
At the meeting council noted that with the basketball courts currently not in use, the facility is an ongoing maintenance issue for council.
It was also noted that there are other toilets located nearby at the new Apex Lakeside Park and at the South Circle facilities under the rugby club.
